What settings are required if you use a notebook, e. g. Lenovo W540?

A Lenovo notebook (e.g. W540) is equipped with an energy-efficient graphics chip and a high-performance graphics card. The software chooses which of the available graphics hardware to use during runtime. Visualization problems can occur if the configuration is not set correctly.

NoiseImage is a computationally intensive application and relies exclusively on the high-performance graphics hardware. To run NoiseImage properly, the option “High-performance NVIDIA processor” in the NVIDIA control panel under “Manage 3D settings” (see Fig. 1) needs to be selected.
